Day 07 - Fri 01 May

New York, New York ... so good they built it twice
We didn't rush this morning, and took our time going out. Decided to take a look at some of the amazing hotels. This is just one hotel believe it or not.
-0-

Bring me your tired, your not so poor, your huddled masses ...
An amazing replica
-0-

A typical gambling floor
This doesn't really do it justice, but they are surreal places.
-0-

The MGM Grand ... grrrrr
-0-

The Big Fight
The MGM was where the big fight was taking place, tomorrow night. The place is full of Brits, and was really crowded when we visited as it was the morning of the weigh in.
-0-

The Luxor
Hard to guess, but based on ancient egypt this one
-0-

Sandwich Men
There is advertising everywhere. Stand still long enough & someone will stick an advert on you.
-0-

Mmmmmmm Chocolate
... or should that be M&M chocolate?
-0-

Peter forgot his deodorant
Actually, the women was either horribly disfigured or she was running scared because of a swine flu epidemic that seems to have everybody up in arms over here.
-0-

Seems like a good deal
Damn that small print ......
-0-

She won't fit in the case ...
She seemed unable to resist Peter's charm.
-0-

Elmo staking out his own row of slots
All very well but he couldn't reach the arm to work them ...
-0-

Elvis LIVES ...
-0-

Could THIS be the hire car?
It's tripping man.
-0-

The Local Fuzz
When they heard we were in town, the police mobilised in force.
-0-

The Freemont Street Experience
Freemont Street, was part of the original "Strip", and the bit of Las Vegas you see in Diamonds Are Forever, the James Bond film. Well, they have covered it over now with a giant video screen (yes the whole street), and created an "Experience". Actually it is very cool, so much better than the new "Strip" where all big hotels are, and was perhaps even more of an experience when we visited as it was the night of the annual Gay Pride parade.
-0-

The not so hot local showgirls ...
-0-

All dressed up ... oh and yes a parade to go to
-0-

I really wasn't speeding officer ... can't I just pay a fine?
-0-

Strange use for a tea towel?
-0-

Party on dudes ....
-0-

Da Da Da Da Da Da ....
You all know the tune ...
-0-

Is there something you need to tell us Elmo ?
-0-

Goodbye to Vegas
Interesting place, would not want to live here, or probably even visit it again. At least not for another 20 years, but it was an experience. The good news is we were up on the casino's. Elaine more than doubled our money .... well the money we bet. $1 in and $2.55 out ... result!

Early morning views of Bryce & Us
It's still pretty chilly this time of the morning (hence Elaine's tramp like gloves!). All the weird spires here are sandstone pillars called "Hoodoos".
