It was dark when we arrived ...
Not the greatest of motels, but it was late and we were tired. Perhaps walking past the Mexican hunters drinking outside, and stepping through scaffolding should have rung alarm bells. Maybe we'd reached the border, and hit ground zero for this swine flu epidemic out of Mexico, and that's apart from the truck wash, lube & tire depot we had as a view from our bedroom window!

Not the greatest breakfast
Not sure why, but we went to McDonalds for breakfast. Not the best of choices... did you know eggs come in slabs, "biscuits" taste like slightly undercooked scones, and pancakes are like munching on slightly damp carpet. Oh, and it obviously wasn't in the best area. Peter got out some cash to pay and a women in the queue beside him said
"don't take out so much cash .. not here!" .. it was all of $40!
Needless to say, we didn't stay long, and were on our way
to Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks.

Spooky forest

If you aren't a tree lover, this is still a great place to visit ...yes, REALLY?!
As the sunset we left Kings Canyon and headed for Fresno to find another motel.
Hopefully a better one this time!

Love those spooky forest shots. Especially the top most vertical shot, very eerie. Almost looks B&W.
